2007 WISSOTA Late Model Rookie Of The Year Kyle Peterlin!

HIBBING, MN (June 24, 2009) - We had a great weekend of racing which started on June 18th at the Grand Rapids Speedway. From a 5th place starting position Kyle rather quickly jumped into the lead with Jeff Provinzino right behind him. In an exciting race Kyle ran the high side while Provinzino ran a lane lower pulling alongside in the corners. With a handful of laps left Kyle changed his line allowing Provinzino to get by for the lead. Kyle charged back to the high side and passed Provinzino to take his first feature win of the season.  On Friday and Saturday we were able to stay home in Hibbing and race the special 'Governor's Cup'. He was second in passing points so was able to run in the dash to determine the feature race line-up.

From Greg Anderson's article: "The WISSOTA Late Model feature event began with Harry Hanson jumping to the initial lead. Hanson soon felt the pressure of Pat Doar as they raced away from the field in the opening laps. As Doar hounded Hanson for the lead, Kyle Peterlin began to make up ground on the top side of the race track and was soon within two car lengths of the lead duo. Peterlin continued to work the high groove and within the blink of an eye, raced past both Doar and Hanson into the lead. Hanson rallied back to stay on Peterlin's bumper just past the halfway point of the race before the caution appeared for spin in turn 2. When the race resumed, the field filed into single file formation and passing become extremely difficult. Peterlin sailed away from the field as Doar stayed glued to Hanson's rear bumper. With three laps to go, Doar was able to squeeze past into second while Peterlin approached the back of the field. Peterlin cruised in the final two circuits to the $3500 pay day."

• Earned WISSOTA Late Model Rookie of the Year honors at Hibbing Raceway, Proctor Speedway and Fiesta City Speedway.
